The beginning of the end! Starting my penultimate life room painting ending four years in the atelier. Being an obsessive art student is a tremendous privilege. How faster to grow than to fail earnestly so many times in a row? 🏹 🏹 🏹 🏹 🏹 #aristidesatelier #artmodel #artschool #figuredrawing #figurepainting #paintingfromlife #oilsketch #oilpainting #paintanyway #paintinginprogress #classicalrealism #figurativeart

Small 4” detail of a larger 3 x 2’ painting in progress. I’m not used to working this big, its exhilarating! But it’s also exciting to finally focus in on details. 🌱 #detail #newpainting #oilpainting #naturamorta #stilllifepainting #springbreak #paintanyway #paintingfromlife #contemporarypainting #artsy #visualart #springtime #wip #paintinginprogress

He described it as nostalgia or a longing for the recent past. ❄️ I copied this portrait by one of my favorite naturalists, Emile Friant, a few months back and returned to it today, drawn to the wistful look of “The Young Woman of Nancy in a Winter Landscape”. #mastercopy #naturalist #snowday #snow #winterlandscape #portraitpainting #oilpainting #aristidesatelier
Magnolia branches and a wet painting chilling in the back just daring each other to slide on over. 🙈#whatcouldgowrong #magnolia #portraitpainting #wetpaint
